VCI Global sent seven dedicated representatives to participate in the WishMaker Challenge organized by Make-A-Wish Malaysia on 24 May 2025 at St. Giles Hotel, Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur. This specialized training program was designed to onboard and equip new volunteers with the essential knowledge and skills needed to support the organization's mission of granting life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Our participation demonstrated our commitment to empowering our team members to become active volunteers in meaningful causes that bring hope and joy to vulnerable children and their families throughout Malaysia.
We received a thorough introduction to Make-A-Wish Malaysia's mission and gained valuable insights into the various volunteer roles available within the organization. The session provided us with important updates on the MAWM mobile app, which serves as a crucial tool for volunteer coordination and communication, and introduced us to the exciting new Wish Makers Challenge initiative. These technological and programmatic developments highlighted the organization's commitment to innovation and efficiency in their wish-granting processes, while also demonstrating how volunteers can leverage modern tools to maximize their impact and contribution to the cause.
We actively participated in hands-on group exercises that provided practical experience in the wish-granting process. During these interactive sessions, we collaborated to brainstorm, plan, and present solutions for a real-life wish case, giving us a comprehensive simulated experience of the entire wish journey from initial assessment to final fulfillment. This experiential learning approach allowed us to understand the complexity and thoughtfulness required in each wish-granting process, while also highlighting the collaborative nature of the work and the importance of careful planning and execution in creating meaningful experiences for children.
The training session also covered essential administrative tools and processes that volunteers need to understand for effective participation in Make-A-Wish Malaysia's operations. We engaged in open discussions about best practices, challenges, and opportunities within the volunteer program, followed by a heartfelt sharing session where experienced volunteers and staff members shared inspiring stories and practical insights from their wish-granting experiences. The day concluded with a group lunch that fostered stronger connections within the volunteer community and provided informal networking opportunities to build relationships that would support our future collaborative efforts.
This inspiring training day empowered our team members to better understand the profound impact they can have as volunteers and equipped them with the knowledge and confidence to become more actively involved in making wishes come true for children facing critical illnesses. We left the training with a deeper appreciation for Make-A-Wish Malaysia's systematic approach to creating magical moments and a renewed commitment to supporting their mission through our volunteer efforts. The experience reinforced our belief in the importance of corporate volunteerism and our responsibility to contribute our time and skills to organizations that bring hope and happiness to those who need it most in our community.
